First Listen: Jesus Came to my Birthday Party by The Middle East

For about a minute there I thought The Middle East had made a song I didn’t love. But thankfully, I kept listening. Despite what initially seemed like an underwhelming intro to the song, new track Jesus Came to my Birthday Party is just as captivating, just as mesmerising, just as fulfilling as we’ve come to expect from the Middle East. There’s one chord-change in particular that sends chills up my spine. If this song is anything to go by, it’s going to more than live up to fans’ high expectations of next year’s greatly anticipated album, incited by their just-about-perfect EP, Recordings of the Middle East.

Oh, and if you somehow haven’t heard of this band, then check out the song Blood at the bottom of this post. Do so at the expense of the position of your Most Played Song on iTunes though…
