A few months ago my sister showed me a video of a musician. This musician’s name was Tim Fitz, and his parents and mine are good friends.
The video of this Tim Fitz character was sublime, featuring a song he’d written (apparently rather speedily), to show off his new loop pedal. I was intrigued by the musical aptitude of this bloke I could only recall ever meeting once, about ten years ago. (If you’re interested, I have a memory of being jealous of his classy pokemon cards.)
But a few weeks ago, his sister, whom I know, posted his new EP on Facebook, and I was even more impressed. Six short, sweet tracks, all filled with an array of multifarious sounds and textures. This is music with immense depth, and given that he wrote, played and home-recorded the whole thing, I think Australia’s current DI(all)Y musician, Jonathan Boulet, has reason to look over his shoulder.
The EP can be downloaded on a name-your-price basis on his Bandcamp.
