First Listen: Ekki Mukk by Sigur Ros

Everyone’s seventh-favourite Icelandic, ambient, post-rock band has released a track from their upcoming album, Valtari. Brilliantly combining a classic Monty Python moment with a  Pokemon with which I never wasted my time (there are so many superior Gen. 1 Pokemon), Ekki Mukk signifies a gargantuan departure from Sigur Ros’ earlier work in that it’s a beautiful, gradual eight-minute build filled with soft strings and piano. I know it can be difficult to accept change, but if other bands can make it through a stage of sonic progression, then one can obviously conclude that Sigur Ros can too.
